High commission of Pakistan, Ottawa, Canada attests and legalizes documents; however, requirements are vary for each document to be attested. Please read the information below before visiting High Commission of Pakistan.

Information regarding documents attestation:

• All documents issued from Pakistan must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad or its Camp Offices at Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar & Quetta.
• All Canadian documents must be attested by Global Affairs, Canada.
• All educational documents must be attested by HEC (Higher Education Commission) and subsequently by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad or its Camp Offices at Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta.

Information regarding Power of Attorney:

• Government of Pakistan has in collaboration with Nadra started Digital Power of Attorney service for facilitating Overseas Pakistanis, who want to give Power of Attorney to any person residing in Pakistan. For online application please visit the following link.

• However Overseas Pakistanis can also get processed their Power of Attorneys at High Commission of Pakistan, Ottawa, Canada. Please read the following requirements before visiting High Commission of Pakistan for execution of Power of Attorney:
• Executants have to visit High Commission of Pakistan personally and must sign the Power of Attorney in front of the concerned official.
• Original documents along with an additional set of photocopies are required.
• Original and valid Pakistani ID (Passport or CNIC / NICOP of the executants) as well as their photocopies are required.
• Copy of CNIC/NICOP/POC of the person (Attorney) to whom the Power of Attorney is being given is required.
• Two Passport size-colored photographs of the executants with white background taken within last three months.
• The High Commission of Pakistan only attests signature(s) of the executants and does not take any responsibility for the contents or authenticity of the contents of the Power of Attorney.

Apostille

The Apostille Convention reduces the public document authentication process to a single formality i.e. issuance of an authentication certificate called ‘Apostille’ by the designated authority of the country where the document originated. Thus foreign public documents authenticated by Apostille can be directly presented to the concerned authorities in the destination state.
