Is it mandatory requirement to produce original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) or National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or Smart ID Card for a Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) application?
Ans. Yes, Machine Readable Passport system uses the data from NADRA's system and application can only processed if applicant has a valid original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) or National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or Smart ID Card. Only exception is the children having Computerized Child Registration Certificate (CRC/Form B) issued by NADRA from Pakistan. Their applications can be processed without CNIC or NICOP if they have original CRC/Form B.
Is it compulsory that one of the parents should accompany the child for processing the machine readable passport application?
Ans. Yes, One of the parents should accompany their child for processing the machine readable passport application with identity documents of both the parents.
Is it Possible to process child's Machine Readable Passport (MRP) with Computerized Child Registration Certificate (CRC/Form B) issued by NADRA in Pakistan?
Ans. Yes, child's (up to the age of 18 years) Machine Readable Passport (MRP) application can be processed on the basis of Computerized Child Registration Certificate (CRC/Form B) issued by NADRA from Pakistan even if they don't have National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).
I have an old National Identity Card (handwritten Shanakhti card / Shanakhti Card) which was issued before the NADRA cards were issued. Can I apply for Machine Readable Passport (MRP)?

No, Machine Readable Passport system uses the data from NADRA's system and application can only be processed if applicant has a valid original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) or National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or Smart ID Card. You need to get a one of these NADRA cards before applying for Machine Readable Passport (MRP).
Can female applicants having Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) without their photo on it apply for Machine Readable Passport (MRP)?
Ans. No, Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) with photo is required for Machine Readable Passport (MRP) application processing.
I want to change my name, date of birth, father's name or place of birth on my Machine Readable Passport (MRP), what will be the procedure for this?
Ans. For any of above-mentioned changes you will first need to update your Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) or National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or Smart ID Card. MRP uses the data from NADRA's system and modification will only be possible when your details are updated in NADRA's system.
I have a valid foreign exchange remittance card, am I entitled to apply for a Machine Readable Passport free of charge?
Ans. Yes. Applicants who possess a valid foreign exchange remittance card can apply for Machine Readable Passport free of charge. Their application will be processed in normal processing time.
Attestation:
For power of Attorney/Authority Letter with two or more executants, are all executants required to be present or only one executant with the original and valid IDs of all executants can get the documents attested?
Ans. No. All the executants have to be present in front of High Commission of Ottawa’s official along with original and valid Pakistani IDs
Is it possible to get legalization on the basis of expired Pakistani ID (Pakistani Passport/ NICOP/CNIC)?
Ans. No, Valid IDs (Pakistani Passport/NICOP/CNIC) are required for attestation of documents.
If I don't have my Pakistan ID card (NICOP/CNIC) and possess valid Pakistani passport, am I able to get my power of attorney or Authority letter attested?
Ans. Yes. On the basis of valid Pakistani passport we are able to attest your documents.
Is it possible to get attestation/ legalization of document originating from Pakistan at High Commission of Pakistan Ottawa, which is not attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad or its Camp offices?
Ans. No. Document originating from Pakistan needs to be attested first from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad or one of its Camp Offices (at Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta).
If I want to change my name with poll deed from the local solicitor, can it be attested by High Commission of Pakistan?
