Principals, Deans, distinguished guests, respected faculty members, proud parents and most importantly, our talented graduates,
Assalamo Alikum,
I am honored to be the Chief Guest at this momentous occasion.
As we gather to celebrate the achievements of our young doctors, I am reminded of the significant challenges that our healthcare system has faced in recent years.
Despite these challenges, our government has made tremendous efforts to improve healthcare and medical education. Two weeks back, when I heard about the incidence of Kyrgyzstan. I rushed there to make sure of the security of medical students studying there. I was surprised to know that there are 15000 medical students stranded in Kyrgyzstan. Keeping in view this incidence honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian M. Shahbaz Sharif, constituted a high-powered committee to review the demand and supply gap of medical education, to review the phenomena of students getting admissions abroad and suggest measures improve existing regulatory framework. This committee will also examine the existing syllabus and suggest uniform curricula across the country. We have invested in upgrading medical infrastructure, enhancing faculty development, and increasing the number of medical colleges and universities.
Pakistan produces approximately 16000 medical and dental graduates every year.
Sixty five percent come from private medical colleges and 3s0% come from public medical colleges. Our dilemma is that 30% of the medical & dental graduates do not pursue the profession.
Some graduates to join civil service and large number goes abroad. Our goal is to transform the health care environment in such a way that young doctors remain content in their profession within Pakistan. By doing so we will be able to reduce brain drain and to increase the brain gain.
Our efforts have borne fruit, as we see a new generation of skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals emerging.
You, our graduates, are the future of our healthcare system. You have the knowledge, skills, and dedication to make a meaningful jimpact in the lives of your patients and communities.
As you embark on your medical journey, remember that your profession is not just a job, but a noble calling. You have the power to heal, to comfort, and to make a difference. I urge you to stay committed to your values, to continuously update your knowledge, and to always put your patients first.
To the administration, faculty and staff of this esteemed medical college, I commend your tireless efforts in shaping the minds and skills of our future healthcare leaders. Your dedication is crucial in producing competent and caring professionals.
In conclusion, I congratulate our graduates once again on their achievement. I encourage you to stay proud, stay passionate, and stay committed to serving humanity. Together, we can build a healthier, more prosperous Pakistan.
Thank you."
