High Commissioner of Pakistan, Muhammad Saleem, visited the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) headquarters in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis on July 9, 2025. He held a meeting with Ms. Claricia Langley-Stevens, Chairperson, NEMA Board of Directors and Mr. Glenroy Blanchette, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of National Security, St. Kitts and Nevis.
Both Pakistan and St. Kitts and Nevis being vulnerable to natural disasters, the two sides exchanged views on avenues of bilateral cooperation in disaster management and emergency preparedness. High Commissioner Saleem briefed about the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan and its state-of-the-art system for early warning, disaster response, resilience-building and mitigation of climate-induced and other calamities. Emphasizing the importance of collaboration in tackling global challenges such as climate change, he expressed Pakistan’s readiness to establish mutually beneficial partnership between NDMA and NEMA for sharing knowledge, technical expertise, and best practices.
The engagement highlighted the shared commitment of Pakistan and St. Kitts and Nevis to enhancing cooperation in disaster management and other areas of mutual interest, laying the foundation for future partnership and joint initiatives.
