Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha today. The OIC Secretary General is visiting Islamabad to participate in the International Conference on “Girls’ Education in Muslim Communities: Challenges and Opportunities”.
Welcoming the OIC delegation to Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister commended the OIC’s dedication and commitment to women empowerment and its unwavering focus on girls’ education in the Islamic countries.
During the meeting, they discussed the situation in Gaza and the Middle East, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Afghanistan, Islamophobia, discrimination and violence against muslims across the globe and the role of the OIC in that regard.
Highlighting the grim human rights situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the DPM/FM expressed appreciation for OIC’s principled position and consistent support for the just struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination.
The DPM/FM commended the appointment of OIC’s Special Envoy on Islamophobia to help coordinate the work of the Organization and its Member States for addressing discrimination against the Muslims all over the world.
