To commemorate the 78^th anniversary of Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a ‘Flag Hoisting’ ceremony was held at the High Commission of Pakistan in Mauritius on 14 August 2024.  A large number of Pakistani community members alongwith with their families living across Mauritius, and prominent Mauritian personalities attended the ceremony. The messages of the Hon. President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif were read out.      

            In his message the Honourable President of Pakistan, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute Quaid e Azam and to the Muslims of the subcontinent who carved a separate homeland for the  Muslims  of Indian subcontinent.  The Prime Minister of Pakistan in his message, called for unity and making efforts to make Pakistan an ideal country in the comity of nations.

            In his remarks, H.E. Syed Zahid Raza, High Commissioner of Pakistan (Designate) to Republic of Mauritius who arrived in Mauritius a day before to assume the post, highlighted the significance of Independence Day and also paid tribute to the leaders who united the Muslims of the sub-continent and achieved independence of our country. He also thanked the people and government of Republic of Mauritius for their hospitality.

The High Commissioner thanked Pakistani diaspora and other guests for attending the event. The attendees were also served  with traditional Pakistani breakfast.
