National Symbols of Pakistan

The national flag of Pakistan was designed by Syed Amir-uddin Kedwaii and was adopted on August 11, 1947, just three days before the country's independence.

Symbolism:

• Dark Green Field: Represents the Muslim majority of Pakistan
• White Vertical Bar: Represents religious minorities and minority religions
• White Crescent: Symbolizes progress
• Five-Pointed Star: Represents light and knowledge

Proportions:

• The flag's width-to-length ratio is 2:3
• The green portion constitutes 3/4 of the flag's length
• The white portion constitutes 1/4 of the flag's length
• The crescent and star are positioned in the center of the green field
