The total number of community was around 2000 before war in normal times which were reduced to 200 during war. Currently the total number of Pakistani community is in excess of 1500. Attempts to document them properly could not be succeeded as they are reluctant to provide their details. The Embassy staff, teachers working in Pakistan International School of Damascus and their families, a few Pakistanis working with International organizations, religious students at Syeda Zainab Area and Cham International Islamic Centre of Damascus constitute the Pakistani community in Damascus. Besides, there are 50-60 Pakistani families who had settled here since long ago.
