Syria and Pakistan historically enjoy close and friendly relations. Bilateral relations between Syria and Pakistan formally established in December, 1949. On December, 1949, Mr. J. Rahim, Minster Plenipotentiary, was assigned as the first Pakistani Head of Mission to Syria.

Pakistan and Syria have Parliamentary friendship groups in each other’s Parliaments.

In 2023 earthquake in Syria, Pakistan extended all possible support.
Syria recognizes Kashmir as a dispute which needs to be resolved in accordance with UNSC Resolutions and the wishes of the people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. Regarding India’s illegal actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir since 5th August 2019, Syria supported Pakistan’s position on the issue.
Pakistan International School of Damascus (PISOD)
Pakistan International School of Damascus (PISOD) was established in September 1982 has grown into a custom design complex located at an area of 45000 square meters and enjoys good reputation among the Syrian elite. It has become a premier institute for imparting English medium education in Damascus. It is licensed by the Syrian Ministry of Education as the only English medium Cambridge certified school in Syria. The school is a living symbol of friendship between Syria and Pakistan. It provides this Mission a considerable leverage and promotes Pakistan's soft image amongst the students and their parents as well as establish their associations with Pakistan. All Pakistani students are being provided quality education on nearly 100% discount. The platform of school has the potential to be used as a source of establishing bilateral relations between the two countries as most of the children belong to political/military elite of Syria. Efforts were made by the Mission to engage high level personalities to visit the school.
