Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO)
Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) is a vital regional platform for promoting economic development and Pakistan is one of its founding embers. Established in 1992 with an aim to advance sustainable development, Pakistan has been consistently contributing to the work and success of this important organization. Pakistan hosts several ECO subsidiary bodies, including ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF), ECO Postal Staff College, ECO Reinsurance Company, and the Secretariats of Parliamentary Assembly of the ECO Member States (PAECO) and the ECO Supreme Audit Institutions (ECOSAI).
As a founding member, Pakistan has consistently prioritized the promotion of economic regionalism under ECO framework. Pakistan has hosted two ECO Summits (1995 and 2017), as well as a number of significant high-level ECO meetings an events. Pakistan looks forward to further strengthening ECO’s activities and outcomes. Pakistan has also assumed the ECO Chairmanship for two years (2026-2027) and is committed to making its ECO chairmanship a landmark period for the organization.
