Ambassador Ali Javed welcomed Marco Salvade, President Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT) assisted by Director Giorgio Calculli, and Ermanno Sperduti Institutional Relations. The 45-min interaction was organized by Yasir Hussain Khokhar, Trade & Investment Counsellor.

Underscoring depth & dimension of Pak-Italy strategic cooperation, Ambassador expressed satisfaction at bilateral trade recorded over $1.5Bn for 7 consecutive years of which textiles exports to Italy stood in excess of $750mn 5 years running.

Ambassador praised 2020 establishment of ‘Italy-Pak Centre for Textile’ at Nat’l Textile University Faisalabad as success story and appreciated ACIMIT and Italian Trade Agency (ITA) for the initiative which has contributed to product diversification and competitiveness which ultimately led to increased exports.
 
Ambassador highlighted ‘Italy-Pak Footwear Centre’ at Lahore also since 2020 as another success story and expressed confidence that such Centers for Dairy, Marble, Citrus and Olive Oil Extraction, already under active consideration of both sides, shall be brought to fruition through relevant Associations & Departments to unlock Pakistan's true export potential in the stated Sectors. 

President ACIMIT reaffirmed commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and accorded briefing on incoming delegation of 21 Textile companies’ representatives from Pakistan to Milan from 15-19 June 2026, and added that ‘250’ B2B interactions had been planned during 5 days with over 50 Italian companies 

Delegates represent a wide spectrum of Pakistani Textile Industry, namely Al-Karam, Nishat, Sapphire, Lucky, Siddiq Sons, United, Reliance, Mekotex, Afroze, Artistic, Indigo, Indus, Feroze, Int’l Combined, Mehmood, Ibrahim, Naveena, Zaman, Nat’l Textile University and Nat’l Textile Journal. 

Ambassador Invited ACIMIT to join next Session of Pak-Italy Joint Economic Commission in Islamabad in last quarter of 2026. He termed ACIMIT initiative as timely and substantive and assured full support from Consulate General of Pakistan in Milan. Last time such a delegation visited Italy in Dec 2023.
