EXECUTION OF POWER OF ATTORNEY/ OATH/ AFFIDAVIT/ OTHER SIMILAR DOCUMENTS
Requirements:
- Every Executant should prepare the Document according to his intended purpose. In case an Applicant is unable to prepare his Power of Attorney, Affidavit, Petition, Application etc., Consulate General of Pakistan, Montreal can help in the preparation of the document. Government prescribed fee would be charged for this service.
- Personal physical presence of the Executant at the Consulate General is essential (Executant should sign the Document at the Consulate General in front of a representative of the Consulate General).
- The Document should be prepared on a plain paper. Executant should
- include Executant's full name, Pakistani CNIC and Passport Number, full present residential address, current mobile number and email address in the first paragraph of the Document,
- bring 2 photographs (2x1 inches) to be pasted on the Document,
- put signature on each page of the Document at the bottom right where text ends,
- Property title page (not the whole document), if the power of Attorney is for a land claim.
- two witnesses whose CNIC numbers, present address, mobile and email address should be mentioned (Witnesses signatures are required before visit to the Consulate General). Please also provide copies of witnesses’ CNICs. Witnesses must live in Canada.
- leave around 1/4th of each page of the PoA document blank at the bottom for stamping by this Mission
- Executant's valid Pakistani Identity Card + copy (both sides)
- Executant's Pakistani Passport + copy (first two pages)
- Executant’s proof of Residence or Work within the consular district of this Consulate General i.e. Quebec and Atlantic Canada (e.g. utility bill, rent agreement, university card, employer’s appointment letter, office identity card etc.)
- Two-sided Pakistani Identity Card copy of the Attorney/Agent/Beneficiary
- Valid Pakistani Identity Card, Passport and Proof of Residence copies in respect of the two witnesses
ONLINE Procedure:
- Should an Executor (holder of a valid Pakistani NIC) be interested in the online attestation/verification of the Power of Attorney, its procedure is accessible at https://poa.nadra.gov.pk/
- Please note Witnesses are to be present online.
Foreigner Executants/Executors not in possession of Pakistani Identity Card/Passport:
- Such Executors should preferably get such a Document firstly attested from the Global Affairs Canada; GAC (https://www.international.gc.ca/gac-amc/about-a_propos/services/authentication-authentification/step-etape-1.aspx?lang=eng). The Consulate General can then countersign the GAC attestation on the document against the payment of prescribed fee (CAD 50) for attestation of the signature of a foreign authority.
- They can also follow the above procedure to execute their documents at this Mission. Please note that (a) the Power of Attorney of such an Executant cannot be uploaded on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad, (b) the Ministry would, however, be informed through a Fax Message about the execution of such a document.
IMPORTANT: With a view to avoid misuse, an Executant may revoke his earlier Power of Attorney/ Document, if a new Power of Attorney/Document is being executed for the same property/subject matter.
Fee: CAD 50 (up to 3 pages) and CAD 20 per additional page
CAD 35 for online applications
Applicants can pay by Debit Card at the PoS machine at the Consular Counter of the Mission. Alternatively, payment can be deposited at the Bank of Montreal through bank transfer. Proof of the deposit of the fee is required in the latter case.
