The United States and Pakistan share a long-standing and multifaceted economic partnership rooted in decades of diplomatic and strategic engagement. As one of Pakistan's most significant trading partners and a leading source of foreign direct investment, the United States plays a central role in Pakistan's economic development. This partnership encompasses goods and services trade, direct investment, business facilitation, and institutional frameworks designed to deepen bilateral economic ties.
The Trade & Investment Wing of the Embassy of Pakistan, Washington, D.C., is responsible for promoting and facilitating Pakistan's exports and attracting investment into Pakistan.
As part of Pakistan's diplomatic mission in the United States, the Wing serves as the principal channel for commercial diplomacy between the two countries, engaging with US government agencies, trade bodies, and the business community to strengthen bilateral trade and economic relations.
The Wing is a representative office of the Ministry of Commerce and works in close coordination with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Chambers of Commerce and business associations in Pakistan. It also offers matchmaking services for prospective importers and investors, and provides up-to-date information on Pakistan's trade, investment, and tariff policies.
Investment Policies of Pakistan
Pakistan’s Investment Policy has been formulated to create an investor-friendly environment, focusing on further opening up the economy and marketing the potential for direct foreign investment. The essence of the policy is to strengthen Pakistan’s competitiveness by improving the policy regime, offering fiscal and tariff relief, and providing comprehensive facilitation services.
