VISA FOR PAKISTAN

General Guidelines:

• All visa applications are submitted and processed online only through the Pakistan Online Visa System (POVS): https://visa.nadra.gov.pk
• The Embassy processes applications only from residents within its consular jurisdiction. A valid U.S. state–issued ID or driver’s license is mandatory for all visa categories.
• Applicants must select the correct visa category. Visa fees are non-refundable.
• Standard processing time is 7–10 working days. All communication is conducted electronically via the online system.
• If additional documents are requested during review, they must be uploaded within 7 days to avoid automatic cancellation of the application.
• After submission of visa application, "REVIEW" tab on the visa portal may be checked frequently to respond to any query immediately as application will be automatically cancelled by the system if not responded within 07 days.
• You are advised not to submit incomplete application to save time and avoid unnecessary hassle. In certain cases, the visa processing may take longer time.
• Applicant may be called for interview if necessary.

Visa Categories & Requirements:

Family Visit Visa:

Eligible applicants include those with Pakistani documents CNIC/ NICOP/ Pak Passport (valid or expired) or of immediate Pakistani family members (parent, sibling, or spouse).

Required documents (long-term visas require computerized documents, i.e., MRP or CNIC/NICOP):

• Applicant’s Pakistani documents (MRP, CNIC, NICOP, Birth Certificate); OR
• Pakistani ID of immediate family member plus proof of relationship; OR
• Marriage certificate and proof of spouse’s Pakistani origin; OR
• Signed invitation letter from a relative in Pakistan with their CNIC, address, phone number.
• Applicants under 16: Birth Certificate, parents’ Pakistani IDs, and notarized parental consent form (download the form Embassy’s website).

Visit / Tourist Visa:

• Signed, notarized invitation letter from host/ sponsor in Pakistan with CNIC, address, and phone number; OR
• Confirmed hotel booking.
• Applicants under 16: Birth Certificate, parents’ Pakistani IDs, and notarized parental consent form.

Business / Investor Visa:

One of the following is required:

• Recommendation letter from Chamber of Commerce & Industry of the applicant’s country; OR
• Invitation letter from a Pakistani business endorsed by a relevant trade body; OR
• Recommendation letter from BOI, Commercial Attaché, Head of Mission, or SIFC; OR
• Letter from an existing business.

Journalist, NGO & Specialized Visas:

• Additional documentation as required by visa category.

Indian Nationals:

• Indian nationals are not eligible for online visa applications.
• Manual visa application instructions apply.
• Visa fee: US$ 60 per application (non-refundable).
• Visa form for Indian nationals must be downloaded separately.

Required Documents (All Applicants):

• Valid U.S. passport
• Passport-style photograph
• Supporting documents based on visa category.
• Proof of Pakistani origin (Family Visit Visa only).
• Notarized parental consent form for applicants under 16 years of age.

Application Process:

• Visit NADRA ONLINE VISA PORTAL
• Create an account and verify via email
• Log in and select the appropriate visa category
• Complete the application form
• Upload documents and photograph
• Pay online and submit the application

Note: Do not make travel plans until a visa is issued and the electronic Visa Grant Notice is received via email.

 

Corrections & Errors:

• Errors in name, date of birth, or passport number must be corrected directly through the NADRA portal.
• Selecting the wrong passport type (e.g., Diplomatic/ Official instead of Ordinary) will result in automatic rejection.
• Providing false or incomplete information may lead to visa denial or blacklisting.
